Placing bets on the Super Bowl  

All of the odds that are listed below are based upon Las Vegas odds that were posted August 26, 2004 and may differ from your favorite Internet Sport Book Super Bowl odds, which generally gives you even better odds. One thing is certain though; the odds will undoubtedly change between the time of this posting and the day of the big show.

Atlanta Falcons

Falcons (17:1)
The Falcons have the lowest pay out (17:1) of the five teams I'll run through, but I'd say the best chance to pay out. While Mike Vick has seen little action in the preseason, there's no doubt in my mind that he'll be a dominating force. The Peerless Price/Mike Vick combo that had falcons fans excited last season will finally get a chance to flourish and flourish it will. With a rushing attack that features two good backs in Warrick Dunn and T.J. Ducket, the offense will give the Falcons a chance in every game. The change from a 3-4 to a 4-3 defense better fits Atlanta's players and the new addition of first round stud DeAngelo Hall will put more pressure on opposing offenses. Keith Brooking's move to outside backer should send his numbers through the roof, as his athleticism will be featured. No bet's guaranteed but these young Falcons might be a risk worth taking. Other Intriguing Prospects: The Seahawks at 12:1, the Panthers at 15:1, and the Steelers at 20:1 are also worth recognizing. The Hawks are loaded at every position and have shown a confidence that makes them exciting. The Panthers at 15:1 went to the Super Bowl last year… and almost beat the heroic Patriots. The Steelers have 3 amazing wide receivers and Duce Staley has looked great in the pre-season. He was underused last year in Philly, and I'm sure he's out to prove it. Add these three teams to the list. Take a chance on one of the teams in my elite eight and come out with a little, or a lot of pocket cash!
